Dr. Carrington’s interest in physical therapy started in high school as a student athlete. Nikki was always interested in the function of the human body and importance of maintaining, improving and rehabbing it when necessary. As an undergraduate student Nikki studied Exercise Physiology at Howard University and completed an internship the with football team physician as a student athletic trainer. Nikki graduated with a Masters’ Degree in Exercise Science in 2006 and worked as an Exercise Physiologist for over 20 years. Although Nikki loved helping people progress and optimize their health and wellness goals something was missing, and she knew she should follow her heart to become a physical therapist. Nikki graduated with her Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2019 from Howard University and fulfilled her dream.

Dr. Carrington enjoys working with the Geriatric population with Orthopedic and neuromuscular deficits. She holds a special interest in Vestibular dysfunction and gait disturbances to help improve functional mobility and quality of life. Dr. Carrington in pursuing a certificate to treat concussions in adults and athletes to assist them to return to play. It is her desire to continue to expand her knowledge in manual therapy through continuing education courses and ongoing clinical experience. Dr. Carrington continues to increase her knowledge to better serve her patients to enhance all aspects of their functional mobility dysfunctions.

Dr. Carrington’s hobbies are going for long walks, weight training and reading a good book. She spends many weekends giving of her time to community service by helping people with food insecurity, participating in health and wellness fairs and mentoring inner city youth in underserved communities.
